The End of a Cycle

With the new year being literally round the corner, it’s finally time to look back at what you accomplished this year. Maybe there’s a lot behind you, and maybe there’s nothing you’ve done that you’re proud of. Whatever the case, the year is ending and it’s about time we prepare for the next line of challenges and new ways life can torture us. There’s a bit of time left if you want to make amends for something that’s bothering you this year, so use it wisely and march into the new year feeling accomplished and proud.

The next month or so is going to be extremely excruciating to bear because you will have to listen to a barrage of ‘the first of this year’. That joke’s older than the bible itself and nobody appreciates it anymore. On the other hand, the gyms will never have more business than after the holidays because they will be filled to the brim with people who have finally decided to lose weight and steer their health onto the right path. Honestly, if you haven’t gotten used to exercise and a healthy way of living, perhaps it’s time to visit a professional to help you out.

New year resolutions are a waste of time for most people because they can’t even remember to feed their goldfish, let alone hope to keep their promise how ‘they will change the world’. If you want to change, then do it right now, don’t wait for an excuse and then forget about it because it was a spur of the moment. Great ideas and even greater feats need some time to grow into something amazing, and unless you’re willing to give your time up for it, you can’t expect anything. So, the next time you promise yourself something, make sure to make it feasible at least.

Think of a year passing as an end of an accomplishment cycle, a throwback to what you’ve done, and where you can be better the next year. Instead of promising this and that, take the opportunity to actually come up with a smart way of improving yourself and helping those around you. Challenge yourself and set up new attainable goals which will fuel you to be more successful so that at the end of the year you can stand proud and hold your head high.

The next coming generations are becoming more and more accustomed to the feeling of entitlement and that they must get some kind of instant satisfaction or their wee little feeling will be hurt. What your year looked like shouldn’t be about that, it shouldn’t be about how you can feel proud, it should be more about how you’ve grown. If you’re looking for instant gratification, then you’re barking up the wrong tree. Success and fame take time. Nothing can come overnight, not even if you deeply believe that you are owed something for existing.

All in all, the end of a year should be celebrated not only for Earth going around the Sun but for what you have amassed to this year and how to set up for the coming one. Instead of focusing on empty praise, try to have fun with what awaits you and your new year will be amazing. In that name, let’s welcome new challenges with open arms and embrace whatever it may behold.
